That being said, I have Apple TV 2, Apple TV 3 and now the 4 and all work great. The 2nd generation is still working 5yrs later. I have not experienced any buffering issues but usually that is tied to the ISP rather than the device.
You can always give feedback to Apple directly http://www.apple.com/feedback/

Nov 2, 2015 1:31 PM in response to Triad999by tim11300,The apple/feedback is for general suggestions only. If you buy new hardware which works and then it stops working, that does not sound like a suggestion - more like a defect with your hardware. I have aTV-1st Gen and 3rd-Gen and they all work so far no problems. Sometimes there are software issues, because the aTV software has to match the iTunes version (if you are using home sharing; which you indicated).
Some general troubleshooting (also how to update/restore software using a USB cable)
Restore your Apple TV to the factory settings - Apple Support
Restore your Apple TV using iTunes - Apple Support
and if that does not work, I suggest go to a AppleStore genius bar (or a local shop which gives support) ask them to check the aTV.
