Q: Maps window not showing up

I recently upgraded to El Capitan and have been having problems with Maps. When I start it up, the window does not appear, and in fact I can open new windows (from the menu) which also will not show up, though they show up in the list with the dock icon. It is as if the windows are off the screen somewhere. I have 2 Desktops set up, but they are not on either window. I am thinking it is a more serious problem, because if I pull down the Map menu to try to get "About Maps" or "Report an Issue", I just get a blank white box on the screen.

Thinking that it might be a system problem, I re-installed El Capitan this morning, and Maps worked as expected immediately following. However, checking a few hours later, it returned to its previous behaviour. I have been experimenting with hiding the menu bar, and I a hunch it may be related to this, or perhaps full screen mode.

I have had no problems at all with any other apps.
