Q: Unknown error occurred -3014

I have replaced my hosts file, disabled anti-virus, disabled firewall, connected hard wire to the internet. I cannot update iphone software.

I am on Windows 7.

I am on IOS 8.2, trying to get to 9.1.

My last 4-5 attempts to perform a software update have failed.

I can hardly imagine that my experience is unique. I know various people have posted about 'unknown error' and 3014. But I have read them all and do not find anything to resolve my problem. Other than 'give up on Windows, buy an iMac' - I'm pretty clueless. If anyone has a suggestion, that would be wonderful.

Hey rmunson1,

I see that you are receiving an error code when attempting to update your iOS software. Here is an article that references the error code you’ve mentioned; it may be able to help you address this situation further:

If you see Error 3194, Error 17, or 'This device isn't eligible for the requested build' in iTunes - Apple Support

Thanks. I already had read and done everything in that post prior to my post. So, no help there. Still fails.

To get to 9.1 you MUST have the latest version of iTunes installed. Was this one of the things you checked ?

Thanks Braden. I did contact Apple and (nearly) immediately, was in live contact with support. Their suggestion was to abandon the PC and just do a Wifi upgrade to IOS. I did. It worked. Problem solved, such as it is. It would be nice to perform a 'normal' iTunes update, but if that cannot happen, at least I have a way to update software to the current release. Thanks all for the help.
