Q: Has the earpods design changed recently?

there used to be a 'wire holder' on one side so that the other side could be fixed in that to avoid entangling of wire. I have just bought a new pair of earpods and this 'wire holder' is missing. I have bought it from a 'good shop' that sells genuine products. But still want to confirm if this is okay.

    Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. 

     

    I see you are concerned about the "wire holder" on your Apple EarPods. I haven't seen any announcements about them being removed and checked a pair that came with a new iPhone 6s and it was on that pair. So, I would have to conclude that the "wire holder" should be there. 

     

    It has no affect on the function or sound quality of the EarPods, but does help prevent the wires from tangling. So, if this is a concern for you, you can contact the store where you purchased it.
