Drummer track changes when moving regions?

If say I move all my regions to the start of the project, or if I just move some regions around, the drummer track suddenly changes and goes out of sync with everything else. I can see the drums changing when they are moved. How do I stop this from happening and keep the drums fixed so I can move things around without the entire beat changing?

Here is another trick on how to "lock" a Drummer Region.

You can actually copy a Drummer Region from a Drummer Track and paste it onto a Software Instrument Track. This will create a MIDI Region based on the settings of the Drummer Region. But now you have the advantage that you can edit the individual MIDI Events, for example, delete or add a crash cymbal, or any other MIDI Event.

Here is the procedure:

-1- First, create a new Software Instrument Track (opt+cmd+S)

-2- This is the important part. You have to load the same Patch to that new Software Instrument Track that the Drummer Track is using. Just select the Drummer Track and open the Library (Y) on the left. Look at the Sounds area, what Patch is currently selected. In my screenshot it is the Drum Kit ➤ SoCal. Remember that and now select the Software Instrument Track. It displays your default Patch for that Track. Now navigate in the Library to that same drum patch (SoCal) and click on it. That loads the same Drum Patch to that Software Instrument that is used on the Drummer Track

-3- On the Drummer Track with a Drummer Region, right-click on the Drummer Region and choose from the Shortcut Menu ➤ Copy (or select the Drummer Region and use the Key Command cmd+C)

-4- Select the Software Instrument Track (and position the Playhead to the position where you want to paste the Region) and click cmd+V to paste the Drummer Region as a MIDI Region on that Track containing all the MIDI Events according to the Drummer Regions' setting.

-5- The Software Instrument Track now should sound exactly as the Drummer Track. You can move and edit the MIDI Region at your own will.

Hope that helps

Yes, good trick but this brings us back to the old way of editing...I am using Drummer to create drum tracks so 'it' improvise them. I don't want to start editing all the notes like I use to, all over again!!!

I my track is not done and I have an odd timing in the song, the drummer figures out the bassdrums goes somewhere but it does not...So then, I move the region, and the same problem arises, it changes the drum. But since I am not finish creating the drum track, I can't make a midi region with it and move it, it's not finish.

Any one know how to disable the 'drummers' mind focuse on àwhere the beat should start or at least him not changing the drums when moving the regions?

Thanks

I'm having the exact same problem only your answer doesn't help! Even if I move a drum region to the beginning of a bar it still changes! And even if I change another region of the same track or add something to it, it STILL changes! In fact it changes the every region slightly!!! ***!? If I copy/paste a new region somewhere/anywhere in the entire Drum track it completely alters everything!!?? Even if all the bars/regions are split and not all one track (if u know what I mean by that). So weird! How do I fix this??

Also, it seems to add the crash symbol noise at the end and or beginning of each Seperate Drum region for some reason, even if I have all that unchecked in the editor! Why? And how do I stop that?

Drummers are smart instruments, playing live.

If you want to move a drummer region as it is, bounce the drummer track as an audio file. Then reimport the save audio file and move this audio region along with the moved project.

Ok I tried it, if I copy the track to a different 'drummer track with the same drummer and kit, and move the track, it still changes the drum. The drum is the same only if it's pasted at the same starting point or down best.

The prob I have is that I have a longer mesur just after the chorus and dont start on a 'regular' expected downbeat. Drummer just gives me a fill there and buts the downbeat at the 'expected place..

Moving the region does not help me... Can I lock it?

When you mover your Drummer Regions "around", make sure that they always start at the beginning of a bar. Otherwise, the Drummer will
"reinterprete" its playing.

Hope that helps
