Apple DEP - Locked devices

One of the reasons my company got into the DEP was we were told that we could unlock devices that had location services tied to a former employee. I don't see any way to do this. The DEP info refers to the statement that "most MDM systems" will connect to DEP, there's no reference to what you do if you don't have an MDM system or don't want to use it to connect devices.

Overall, I think we just got bad information that we could recover worthless devices, which we paid Apple for, when it appears we cannot.

Have others seen better info on this system?

iPhone 6, iOS 8.4

You need to read manufacture information from the right perspective i.e. with a grain of salt.

DEP establishes you company as the owner. If used with an MDM, it allows you re remotely administer your devices. Without DEP an user can assigned an activation lock and lock the company out of the device when they leave.

DEP allows zero touch configuration. So, start using Meraki.

You may be able to take the device to an apple store and they may be able to reset it. Take proof of purchase with you. Call before to see what you need.
