Student hand-in work not marked as viewed

Hello,

In the iTunes U Course Manager website, when allowing hand-in for student-submitted work, I can view a nice grid view of student-submitted documents and those that have not submitted something. After a PDF, for example, was clicked and viewed, the PDF icon for that assignment and that student would no longer have the "turn in hand" icon to show that the document was viewed. Now, as of marking period 2 at school, the hand icon stays over all turned-in documents and I have no way of telling what has I have viewed. Any ideas?

Note: I do not enter grades directly into Tunes U, I only allow turn-in.
