Could my iMac 27" (i7 late 2009) be a slave screen for my MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2012) ?

I would like to on my business MacBook Air at home, but display on my private iMac 27".

Would this be possible?

Does anybody know of a standard cable and/or special settings ?

Thank you,

Hi, today I bought an Apple 2m Thunderbolt Cable to make it work, but..... it doesn't.

Following Apple's description with the CMD-F2 keyboard combination my Macbook Air screen should be displayed on my iMac 27.

Nothing happens...

Any clue?

Your iMac does not have Thunderbolt which is completely different specifications than MiniDisplay Port. A MiniDisplay Port and Thunderbolt are physically the same size however the specifications are completely different. Please get a MiniDisplay Port to MiniDisplay Port cable and TDM should work fine. One example that should work is:

Hi, today my ordered MiniDisplay Port to MiniDisplay Port cable arrived and tried it right away.

Bad news, it still does not work!

A brand new Thunderbolt cable of $50 and now a MiniDisplay Port to MiniDisplay Port cable down the road and still not a working solution which should be working according all the advises and Apple descriptions on compatibility.

If anyone has a clue I would be greatful to hear.

Does anybody has a clue what's wrong in the above trial to have my MBA displayed on my Mac27 late 2009 through a Mini Display cable ??

The Cmd-F2 does not work.

I have done all the tricks from the Apple description but no luck.

Could there be something wrong with keyboard settings for the Cmnd-F2 combination ??

Hope to hear from somebody

Thanks
