Remote with powerpoint

Is it possible to use the included remote with say Microsoft power point?? I like how it works with keynote, but my trial is going to run out soon, and i have powerpoint so i'm not going to buy iwork. Anything you can do with this remote that isn't frontrow or keynote??

Thanks

Sofa Control is a wonderful app!! I used it at work to do a Keynote presentation (it works with several apps, from Powerpoint to Keynote to many others) and it was a successful presentation all the way around. Get this app, its wonderful! Apple should really jump on that remote bandwagon and release their own software to make it happen seamlessly or built-into the apps.

Are you listening, Apple?

I had the same issue. I chose to use my Logitech remote and USB receiver (about $80) for powerpoint. The Mac remote is very sightline oriented where as the Logitech is radio frequency letting you roam - a necessary task of presenters interacting with the audience. Considering the advances of the Bluetooth mouse, I would have thought the remote would follow the same technological advances. I also use it with Keystone (both remotes actually).
