Why are my photos so small in my iPhoto library?

So about a year ago, my computer crashed on me. Luckily i backed up my computer and was able to restore my iPhoto library. When i uploaded my library today, i noticed my photos were very much smaller than normal. Now, all the photos that are much smaller, were on my old iPhone 4. So all those pictures are 270 x 360. I then purchased a iPhone 5, and all my photos that were imported after i bought the phone are way bigger, full resolution. Could it be that because all those pictures were stored on an iPhone 4 has anything to do with the size of all my photos that are tiny? Do iPhone 4 resize pictures?

Also, i can not view any of my videos that were on my iPhone 4 stored on my library. They show up as an image. Help please!

Given what you describe - the small photos and the videos replaced by images - I would have to wonder how actually restored from your back up. Did you also have lost od duplicates? How did you go about restoring?

Thanks for you response! As for restoring, i went into my external hard drive, copied the iPhoto library and applied onto my computer. I then imported the library into iPhoto. All the photos successfully imported. Not sure why a lot of my photos are very small. Did i import correctly?

My guess is that all those photos that were smaller came from my iPhone 4. Not sure if this is the reason, but every photo taken and imported from my iPhone 5 are full sized.

I noticed from the time i bought my new iPhone, that all my photos were high quality and full sized on iPhoto.

What do you think?

The problem was you imported.

Never import one Library to another. Every version and thumbnail is imported like a distinct photo, you lose all your Albums, Keywords etc., the link between Original and Previews is destroyed, the non-destructive editing feature is ruined and so on. In summary: it's mess.

These small images were the thumbnails in that iphoto Library.

Do you still have that back up?
