How do i know that backup from ipad to itunes worked?

I see no evidence in the itunes file structure or GUI that it worked. But i saw no error message. Yes, itunes version was updated today!

Also, I was advised by apple today that i can sync the apps to itunes. Similarly, I see no evidence that apps were backed up. Although there are 12 apps on ipad, only 3 were displayed in the itunes viewer. It seems the backup is limited to apps that will also work on the windows 7 PC? I cannot trust this without more visibility.

Windows XP, iTunes app

Thanks, but you didn't answer either part of my question.

1. I am asking _where_ in the directory structure in the PC do you see that the backup information is stored. Is it passed by itunes directly into the cloud, rather than being stored locally?

2. This question relates to syncing the apps - Apple assures me they can be copied from ipad to ituns via the sync command. But I see no evidence that this worked at all. This is a separate issue from backup.

Actually, razmee209 answered your question perfectly.

A few additional points:

Definitely not, as no iOS app works on a Windows PC. These are completely different operating systems.

While your iPad is plugged into iTunes on your computer, use the iPad's "Summary" display in iTunes to click on the "Apps" tab on the left. There you will see all the apps iTunes is aware of. And yes, this is a separate issue from backup.
