Q: invalid response

my ipod touch (4th generation / 2008 / version 1.1.5 (4B1 / model MA623LL- if that helps) will not connect to iTunes on my new MacBookPro. I receive a notice saying "invalid response." odd, because i just bought a second hand ipod that connected with no problem.

most of the other invalid response threads seem to be about iphone - this is just me trying to synch my ipod touch to iTunes on my new computer.

can anyone help?

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), ipod version 1.1.5 (4B1)

The following Knowledge Base article provides some great recommendations for troubleshooting the error message you're receiving:

Get help with iOS update and restore errors

    In particular:

    Check your USB connections

    Errors: 13, 14, 1600, 1601, 1602, 1603, 1604, 1611, 1643-1650, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, 4005, 4013, 4014. You might also see a message that includes "invalid response."

If the USB connection between your device and computer is interrupted, you might not be able to update or restore.

To narrow down the issue, try different equipment:

If you still see the error message, check for hardware issues.
