Replying to the last person that posted w/in the discussion I'm interested in.

I checked the Apple discussions site to get a sense for pros/cons on mouse support for the Pro in order to see if I should just wait for it, if it ever happens, and came across this argument.  Not sure if the participants want to go any further than this, but it would be VERY helpful if:

    1) GeekBlogUK provides a few list items on what he would consider extremely difficult to do in PowerPoint (and more important for me) Excel sans mouse, or conversely much easier with a mouse and then

    2) Have Michael Black perform those functions, taking video as he does them, and posting to YouTube

I know that's a lot to ask, but it might serve to help the discourse here, AND would be extremely helpful to me (and more important: others).

I looked through YouTube but didn't find anyone demonstrating the more advanced functions I use in Excel and the various programming platforms I use, and although an avid iPad fan, I don't want to pony up the cash to find out for myself, as my current iPad is FANTASTIC for the things I CAN use it for.

Many people use ipad to remote desktop in to PC environment where mouse is critical.  This needs to be a feature for IPAD.  thanks apple for taking my request into consideration

They won't know about your request if this is the only place you make it. Use the feedback link.

    That's covered.

    I thinks it's in a prior post.

I guess David's reply has been the most relevant to this topic.

David, how did you find working with Jump Remote Desktop? Did it have a proper Retina resolution (as opposed to the 1024x768 resolution on MS remote desktop). Also, did you experience any lag between the physical mouse movements and the pointer on the screen? Overall, did you experience any issues compared to working directly on a windows laptop or MacBook?

HI, HendrikDC - I think I can answer most of your questions.

How do I find working with Jump Remote Desktop: I use Jump on my Mac and on my iPad Air and iPad Pro.  Sometimes, Micrososft Remote Desktop will not connect to one or more of our Windows servers at work. It reports that it has certificate problems, and that's it - but oddly enough, when I attempt the same connection in Jump, it goes through perfectly. Jump has never failed to connect and stay connected.

Did it have a proper Retina resolution As opposed to the 1024x769 resolution on MS Remote Desktop? I'm not sure if I can answer this accurately. I can say that when I selected full screen, the Windows machine screen perfectly conformed to the iPad's screen with no odd, out-of-bounds scrolling. In that sense, it felt like it worked exactly as it should. I don't remember MS RD having resolution issues, but then again, it's been awhile. I do remember an issue where I would have to drag the screen around to get to the left and right corners in MS Desktop. That does not happen with Jump. Jump fits.

Same thing when remote-controlling an iMac, by the way - sort of. Jump fits the entire iMac screen in the iPad Pro window letter-box style - like a move. The whole screen is there and everything is legible and usable. I'm not sure if that answers your Retina question.

Did you experience any lag between the physical mouse movements and the pointer on the screen? No, it was very responsive. I laughed because I felt like I was using a Surface.

Overbal did you experience any issues compared to working directly on a Windows laptop or MacBook? No. I'm honestly extremely delighted it works so well.

I hope the feedback helped. I'd be interested in hearing how it works for you.

    --David

This whole discussion is quite amazing to me and I think ultimately why Apple people have a bad rep.

I'd like to explain it from my own experience. I recently bought a tablet. I wanted a tablet, not a laptop, because I will use it as a tablet 90% of the time. I really wanted the iPad pro 9.7, not another tablet, as I think it's the best tablet on the market.

I use one website that's key in my workflow and works much better with a mouse. It's only 10% of the time and doesn't mean I need a laptop. But it's enough where I ultimately wasn't able to buy the iPad and instead had to buy what I considered to be an inferior Samsung Tab S2. Great, I made my choice. But it was a choice that could've been avoided. Us mouse people aren't stupid. We understand what a tablet is supposed to be used for. We're buying one because we want a touch experience MOST of the time. But it's not a crazy thing to say "I'd like to be able to use a mouse on that one website." Yet many of you and Apple say, "buy an entirely separate laptop for that one website." I don't want a laptop!! I want an iPad and instead got stuck with a **** Samsung!

I don't think people are saying what you claim they are saying.  You're saying you want an iPad with native mouse support. We're saying that iOS simply doesn't support a mouse, on any device running iOS. So yes, if you want an Apple iOS tablet and mouse support, you need to look at other choices. Or, submit feedback to Apple (which these forums are explicitly not doing for any post) and wait to see if they decide to build it into iOS.

But at this time at the very least, iOS does not support that feature, on any Apple iOS device.  And there is not a thing any user here on these user support forums can do to alter that, so complaining, ranting, preaching and so forth here is not getting anyone anywhere.

You can submit feedback to Apple at http://www.apple.com/feedback/

You have made the right choice, IOS does not support mouse input at all.

You're restating the obvious. The point of my story was to say Apple has lost a customer in this instance. And I really wanted to be a customer.

I understand I can submit feedback and probably will, but they're not going to listen as long as their customers aren't asking for it. Me writing in this forum is a part of helping to change the minds of its customer base.
