Q: Why is my iPad dinging when I get a phone call?

I don't have any idea what is happening, but it's rather annoying. My iPad (and my Macbook Pro now that I mention it) is notifying me when I get a phone call on my iPhone. I really don't like the way every device is synced together for everything, I suppose this is a matter of customizing this for every app and use, and for another topic. Is it because of Facetime? I can't tell why or how my iPad has any connection at all to not just the phone - (because it's more like a computer) - but to my phone calls.
