Q: MBP hard drive failed
Laptop Model: MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012)
I was using my MBP like normal when suddenly everything froze and I had to force shut down and reboot. When I rebooted, I started getting a prohibited sign, and I could no longer access the login page. I've read a lot of other discussions, and it sounds like my hard drive has failed. My main concern right now is I do not want to lose my files. I haven't backed up any of my files and I will be losing years worth of photos, videos, documents, etc. if my hard drive were to be erased. I don't want to take it to an Apple Store because it sounds like my hard drive memory won't be safe in their hands.
What's the most reliable way for me to fix my hard drive and my MBP without losing everything on it?
Thanks so much.

First try Target Disk Mode:
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201462
Next option is to determine if any data recovery software will work. Look on the Internet for such software.
The last option is to enlist the services of a professional data recovery service. They will offer no guarantees and it will be very expensive.
Ciao.
