Yellow tint on Acer K272HUL monitor with Mac mini

I have two problems. One is the periodic yellow tint that washes over my display. The other is resolution. My monitor comes with 2560x1440, but this is currently unavailable as an option in system preferences. Do you think a mini display port to dual-link DVI adaptor will resolve both of these problems?

Mac mini (Late 2014), OS X El Capitan (10.11.1), Acer monitor K272HUL

says it has HDMI, DVI and displayport.

If yours has a display port get a mini displayport>displayport cable and use that. Otherwise get the dual-link mini displayport>DVI adopter.
