Q: BenQ BL2711u not working at 4k with Mac Mini (let 2014)
Hi,
I recently acquired a BenQ BL2711u 4k monitor and am trying to use it with my Mac Mini (late 2014 model, 3GHz i7, 16GB, Intel Iris 1536 MB) running 10.11.1. I'm connected via a mini-DP port on the back of my Mac to the DP on the monitor. My success has been fairly intermittent. Occasionally it works just fine but at others the Mac doesn't seem to be able to drive the monitor (i.e. the monitor says "no input" and goes to sleep. If I connect to the computer via VNC and lower the resolution from the Displays panel, the monitor comes back to life, but as soon as I change it back to the native resolution of 3840x2160 the screen powers down again because there is no input signal. Changing which mini-DP port I'm using from the Mac doesn't seem to have any effect. Sometimes rebooting works. Sometimes plugging in another monitor to the HDMI port makes things work. Once it does work, it continues to work until the display turns off due to power saving. Then it is like starting over, maybe it will work again or maybe it won't. I don't think there is an issue with the monitor, it seems to work flawlessly with my MPB.
Anyone else seeing any issues like this or have any experience with anything like this? I'll have to get another monitor if I can't get this resolved, it's essentially unusable as it is now.
Mac mini (Late 2014), OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)
