I really very much doubt it.   There have been strings of unsolved problems for people with 10.11 and while I have seen signs that apple are studying them, I cannot see them updating Mavericks to meet the MM2 mouse.   It did say for 10.11 on the box.   If you got it from Apple, return it in 14 days and you get your money back.

This is not a reply to Hosni, but a similar problem as noted here. ⬇︎

I installed the new Apple Magic Mouse 2 this a.m. It performs all 0-finger operations beautifully, i.e. it moves the curser around the visible screen, but it will not scroll to other pages with any number of fingers (1, 2, 3, 4, 5,…) nor do any other “Magic” functions as promoted.

It appears to be properly paired with my computer (I got a little notification in the sacred upper right-hand corner of my screen so indicating). I went through the screen that lists the available clicks, swipes & scrolls, &, after clicking all the desired buttons it did nothing.  Furthermore,  I just noticed that it requires 2 taps to insert one space following an end of sentence period. When I Right Click for text-relevant assistance the text remains on the screen only until my finger is removed.

I am running El Capitan OS X 10.11 beta (15A278b) on a 2+ year-old i-Mac. I reinstalled my older Magic Track Pad & it performed as expected.

Need a little help.   Rats, in my haste, I forgot to Thank You in Advance to anyone who can shed some light on Me & My Mouse.  Thank Tou in Advance.

Unfortunately I have neither El Capitan nor the MM2 mouse.   Indeed I am only blessed with the antique Snow Leopard OS.   All the same I try to read up about these things and I note you say you are using the El Cap Beta version.   You need to download the formal El Capitan OS in all its glory and, if necessary, update it to 10.11.1.

Then try your mouse again and report what happens here.   Your findings may help someone else.

I was wondering why I hadn't gotten a note from Mac & the Boys in the Big Apple about the arrival of the real El Cappy. I will see about downloading it tonight & report back tomorrow.  Thanks, Jim.

    Hey 71,

Is it safe to assume that your "ID" is more about chronology thanactual identification? If true, glad to meet you Mr. 71, I would be, using that concept, Dr. 70.

All irrelevancy aside, I wanted to say, Brilliant Work!. I downloaded  the El Capitan V. 10.11 operating system & the MM 2 device worked  beautifully.  I guess it was one of those chronology things… Too early is too early;   too late is too bad. I wish  that Apple had made this timing issue more clear or that I was more astute in realizing that this device works properly only with latest non-beta OS. Thanks again, Jim.

    Happy to have helped.

My ID reflects my age when I first joined the communities.   It is well out of date now but to update it means demotion to level 1 and loss of all my merit points.   I guess staying at 71 is more beneficial.

Magic Mouse 2 - I answered this earlier and Apple Censored it. All about making money and selling more computers by outdating systems, or making them slow forcing updates, either way. This post will probably be blocked also although not as detailed. The magic mouse and keyboard do not require Bluetooth 4 only the trackpad. If apple did not plan to push users to new systems and updates that slow computers down they would continue to sell the original magic mouse. It works with all current Mac OS systems.

I also thought it was a bummer that the new magic mouse only runs on El Capitan , and wont upgrade because mental/cognitive issues I have with flat design, why does not Apple release drivers of the Magic Mouse 2 in the updates of the Appstore beats me. Best bet is to shop around and get the first generation magic mouse, and then get 2 rechargeable AA batteries. I have heard rumours that the Magic Mouse2 built in battery. The Magic Mouse 1 and Magic Mouse 2 are almost identical and do the same job equally, I suggest to buy one soon as possible before they become rare in stores, if you cant deal with an OSX update.
