Why does Airdrop not work between my iPhone and my iMac after doing everything they say one must do? All I want to do is transfer some photos without having to use a USB cable.
iMac with Retina 5K display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)
Airdrop between a mac and an iphone has stringent requirements in both hardware (very recent phone and mac), and software.
I can't use it myself, as I only have an old but reliable iPhone 4S. What model is yours?
choose to "Everyone" on iPhone, if it doesn't work, turn it off then on again.

Thanks for help but I will end it here. For some unknown reason it suddenly worked when I went into network preferences (without changing any settings) !?!
