Hello,
Does the sender receive a notification that the mail could not be delivered?
Does their email end up in your "Junk" folder?
No - it doesn't appear anywhere. It is from a regular sender and has suddenly stopped being received.
Yes - it "bounced back" once, other times nothing happened.
What did the bounce back message say?
Thank you. Sorry for the delay but I wasn't able to contact the sender of the bounced messages.
It says "5.x-message bounced by administrator".
Thanks. Yes. It says "5.x-message bounced by administrator".
I'm having the same problem. Specifically not receiving emails from my father who is using his .icloud account, and he's unable to send to my .mac email / .icloud email addresses. Message he's getting on the bounce back message:
Reason: unknown or illegal alias
Seems like the problem started just before I upgraded to El Capitan.
Though I am not familiar with this exact message, it does sound like the SMTP-server of the sender's ISP or the sender's mailserver bounces the message.
I googled the error, found many results, but no solution: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=5.x.0+-+Message+bounced+by+administrator
Perhaps someone else can add to this thread.
