storage device for photo syncing and file sharing

i want to buy something that could replace dropbox for me since im running low on storage so i was thinking i would buy a time capsule so i could have a decent router and a storage device at the same time (i do need a good router)

NOTE: im not using it for anything heavy just a simple photo syncing across my phones and laptops and file sharing as well.

so should i go with time capesule ? or is there a better alternative for my situation ?

i would appreciate any advice/idea or any explanation regarding the product (what i can and cant do)

thank you 🙂

Apple warns against using iphoto library stored on network disk.

iPhoto: Issues with FAT32-formatted drives - Apple Support

Mostly about FAT but ends up also saying no network drives.

iPhoto: Sharing libraries among multiple users - Apple Support

Apple did not design photo or iphoto to work especially well over a network. Although with photos it is designed to work with icloud which seems at odds with the design.

Syncing meaning you are loading photos into a central store.. and copying those photos to other devices.. turns out to be much harder than you think.

A really good article on how to use iphoto in shared situation.. the comments also have some good suggestions.

The place to ask these questions is not here.. I can tell you the Time Capsule is not suitable.. but to find out what is suitable ask in the photos /iphoto section of the discussions.
