Q: heart monitor is not detecting my heart rate correctly

When I use the workout app, it searches for my heart rate. Sometimes it finds it and when it does, the heart rate is way off. I know this because I'm doing intense workouts and I'm almost out of breath and it will read 75. I've had this problem since I've owned it. I've spoken with support and deleted the Apple Watch App and then re-installed. It worked for a bit but then again it was back to not working good.

Also, lately at times my watch shows that it disconnects from my phone, even when my phone is in close range. I have to turn off my phone and then turn it back on again for it to sync.

So I am really getting frustrated at this point. I thought the recent update would have solve the problem with the heart monitor but it has not.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks,

I am having these exact same problems!!! except mine seems to have only started with the recent update- for instance yesterday- I spent 1.5 hours at the gym- working hard...really hard...and my average HR was 86, i checked the heart rate log and many of my readings are in the 40's and 50's. I am also having the exact same issue with the phone and watch connecting....also only since the update. I wish I had some answer for you.

This seems to depend on the activity. I get some really low readings when I use the arm machines. But, I have zero problems with leg exercises like cycling or the elliptical as long as the band is sufficiently snug. I wear it one notch tighter than normal life. I think I read somewhere (maybe here), that arm constriction interferes with the reading on the wrist. It could be this or simply the watch moves some during arm exercises and misses some beats.

    According to Apple:

"Apple Watch attempts to measure your heart rate every 10 minutes, but won't record it when you're in motion or your arm is moving"

What is the point of not tracking active heart rates?

I run up stairs and just get a blank screen on the heart rate and have to wait till I stop moving to get a reading which has already slowed down.

I am also having issues with the watch not reporting my heart rate accurately.  When I am in an exercise class like RIPPED, P90X Live, Zumba, or playing basketball, it jumps from my actual rate to about 1/2 at times.  See image below.  I'm losing confidence in it.

I take these classes every week & would be willing to run special code if that would help.
