Q: iTunes says it cannot find any of my files
iTunes says it cannot find any of my files, not my apps, songs, or audiobooks.
I tried the replace the old iTunes Library.itl with a prior, but that didn’t help.
Then I discovered….
All the old files seem to be there on but on
E:\Music old\iTunes
This has the complete set of subdirectories and all the old files.
This directory is size 63.2GB.
But the iTunes Library.itl is dated 2 November 2014.
However, iTunes is placing new playlist (with couple of songs I just now imported into iTunes) in the directory
E:\Music\iTunes
This directory has none of the old songs, audiobooks, and apps.
But it has the iTunes Library.itl dated today, 4 November 2015.
This directory is 7.95GB in size.
So it seems that what needs to be done is link iTunes again with the old directory.
Any advice on how to handle this?
Does it involve simply telling iTunes where the old directory is? As in:
“Find and change the iTunes Media folder location
On the Advanced tab:
- Look in the box under "iTunes Media folder location" for the location of your iTunes Media folder.
- To change the location, click the Change button and enter a new location.”

Do I have to do anything with the iTunes Library.itl file?
Thanks!

Sorry I missed this one. See Re: Multiple Missing Files in iTunes for the original problem and Make a split library portable and Backup your iTunes for Windows library with SyncToy to make sure you don't lose your library again. If you still have the library file from before you started over it ought to be possible to reconnect to it and run repairs.
