Q: sticky notes missing after upgrading to OS X El Capitan??

So I recently updated to OS X El Capitan and all my sticky notes are missing! I totally forgot i had some important information there and now they're all gone. There used to be an extra desktop sorta section when i slide all the way to the left with four fingers (that's where all the gadgets and stuff were) and now they're all gone. is there a way for me to retrieve them?

You need to go to SystemPreferences->Mission Control and set the Dashboard drop
down to the desired setting (I personally set Dashboard "As Space").
