Q: Bluetooth speaker issue/question

Not sure if this is the right forum to post this question. Anyway, I just bought a Bluetooth speaker. I am using it in a small one-bedroom apartment. When I pair the speaker with my iPhone 5S, I am able to control the speaker from anywhere in my apartment and the speaker plays sound from my iPhone no matter how far away I am from the speaker.

However, when I pair the speaker with my Mac Mini (2014 model), the speaker's sound fades in and out at about 12 feet from the Mac and the speaker goes silent just a few feet further.

It seems odd to me that the iPhone would have a better Bluetooth signal than the Mac.

I do have one other Bluetooth device connected to the Mac -- a Magic Mouse.

I would rather use my Mac with the speaker than the iPhone for a few reasons. One reason is that I have the Bongiovi DPS audio extension installed on my Mac and it really improves the sound of audio.

So I'm just wondering if anyone has an idea how to get my Mac to working better with the speaker.

Thanks.

Mac mini, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)
