Handoff: iPhone 6 & MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014)

I have tried multiple times to use "handoff" and connect my iPhone 6 to my MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014) running el Capitan. They are not connecting at all. I've followed all the the steps but they will not match. The MacBook Pro is not on the list of devices but its newer than most on the list. Am I missing something?
