Mail was unable to verify the identity of this server, which has a certificate issued to "*.hotmail.com". The error was: The certificate for this server has expired.

I'm on my dad's old iBook G4 and there is a problem with his emails. Here is the message:

"Mail was unable to verify the identity of this server, which has a certificate issued to "*.hotmail.com". The error was: The certificate for this server has expired."

The certificate doesn't expire until April 2016.

I read somewhere about downloading Root-R1.crt and so imported it into Keychain Access; the error message disapperead but he still is unable to send and receive.

Any clues, folks?

Many thanks 🙂

iBook, Mac OS X (10.4.11), G4 (dad's laptop)

Many thanks for your reply.

It's a clean install and I have already deleted the certificates which flummoxed me because since I imported the Root-R1 I don't get the error message and nothing is listed inside Keychain Access; nothing can be sent or received. I have double-checked the settings for the IMAP account so many times and just can't figure it out.

Cheers
