Q: editing 'converted' ProRes 422 footage on FCP7

I have been using FCPx, and typically convert footage from my DSLR and any other footage to prores 422. My partner still uses fcp7 and I converted all of a recent wedding to prores 422.

I can't get a sequence setting that doesn't require rendering... any advise there?

Thanks!

Set the Sequence Timeline to Unlimited RT playback, Dynamic Frame Rate, Dynamic Video Quality. In Final Cut Pro > User Preferences uncheck Report Dropped Frames During Playback.

The render bar shows when FCP estimates that it can't come close to playing the sequence back in real time. You need a computer with sufficient horsepower, and a media drive connected to the computer with sufficient speed in order for real time playback to occur.
