Q: size of photos when sharing

When sharing photos, does the file size get compressed? Are the people I'm sharing with able to download the original size?

Do you mean via iCloud? They can be 2400 pixels wide.

Yes sharing via iCloud. I am sharing photos in a folder with a few people and they say they cannot download the original size. Is 2400 pixels wide smaller than the original photos? I have an iPhone 6 which I take photos with. In general, are the compressed when sharing? Separate but somewhat related question, are photos compressed when sending via iMessage?

I don't know how big your originals are, so I can't say.

select an image and click the info button to see the size.
