why iphone calculator does not have a back space or undo?

You've already gotten the answer, but I want to comment on Apple apps in general. The built in apps are very basic, with limited features. This is most likely by design, so app developers don't see Apple as competing with them. It's worked, with over a million apps currently in the app store. If you want something more than really basic functionality get a 3rd party app from the app store. Here are some of the built in apps that I don't use: Calendar, Weather, Clock, Maps, Stocks, Voice Memos and Calculator (I've got about a dozen specialized calculators, including an HP-12C and an HP-15). The app store has vastly superior apps for all of these functions.

Swipe right to left over the number display area at the top to undo the previous digit entry.

Just swipe right on left on the numbers display (Black area). It will reduce one number each time.🙂
