Q: after wake up from sleep keyboard and touchpad not working on login screen

Hy,

 

MacBook Pro Retine 13.

OS X El Capitan 11.11.1

FileVault OFF.

 

Put laptop to sleep night and open the laptop in the morning (different power levels, < 50 , > 50, pluged in , etc)

Login screen apear, on password field that bar moves (apears and disapears) , try to type password but nothing is being type, try to move mouse (touchpad) but no use, it is not moving.

 

 

Close lid of laptop at night and open it in the morning, login screen apears and keyboard is working (heapend 1 time).

Same day at night at closed the lid and opened it next day , keboard not working.

 

 

Every time this heapens i have to force stop the laptop by pressing the powe button and then when it starts keboard and touchpad works fine.

 

I consider this to be an OS / Operating System bug that needs to be fixed and i kindly ask Apple to help solve this as fast as posible with an update.

 

Just in case some one else has/had this problem, please let me know if you solved it and how.

    Hello there, Vipers07.

     

    It sounds like you're seeing a variety of issues with your retina MacBook Pro when waking it from sleep. The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great pointers for troubleshooting:

     

    OS X: When your Mac doesn't sleep or wake - Apple Support

    If your Mac doesn't wake when you expect

    Your Mac might pause a few seconds before it wakes up. If it doesn't seem to wake at all, check for these possibilities:

    • Your screen brightness might be turned down.
    • If you're using an external display, your display might be turned off. 
    • Your Mac might be in safe sleep. To wake from safe sleep, press the power button.
    • Check for a sleep indicator light, if applicable, and make sure that your Mac isn't turned off.

    If the previous steps don't work

    These additional steps may help identify or resolve the issue: 

    • Reset the SMC.
    • Reset NVRAM.
    • Disconnect external devices other than your Apple keyboard, mouse, and display. If that resolves the issue, gradually reconnect your devices, testing each time, until you find the device that is interfering with sleep. Then check the documentation that came with the device, or contact the device manufacturer.
    • Start up in Safe Mode to see if the issue is related to non-Apple startup items, login items, or kernel extensions. 
    • Try to isolate the issue by using another user account

    thank you for reply.

    i don't use any external devices at all.

    after laptop wake up from sleep nothink except power buton works.

    Pressing the caps lock buton desen't make the led of that button ON, just like the keyboard is not getting power.

     

     

    - nop, i waited a few minutes and still dosen't work

    - no external display, i can see the login screen soo this is not the case

     

    - i did press the powe button.

     

    - cursor is blinking is turrned on.

     

    - did that, no effect.

     

    - i will check how to do this

    i' ve now see that if i close the lid and then open the lid all is working ok.

    if i let the laptop with lid opened for a few hours, the login screen freezes. i than close the lid and let it for a few hours and then when i open the lid the login screen functions ok ...

     

    I think that when lid is close the laptop probably hibernates and whend is lid opened it goes to sleep.

    The sleep seems to be makeing the problems so i need to solve this.

    How can i stop the automated sleep ?

    Apple needs to find a solution and came with a patch/update for this issue about the sleep process and the relating problems...

    I had this exact problem and found that VMware Fusion 7 was the problem. I upgraded to version 8 and have not had the issue repeat itself.
