Q: Movie exported to iMovie theatre from iphone 5s will not appear on apple TV iMovie Theatre even though < 15 mins?

I have two iphones iPhone 5s and iPhone 4. I am able to export movies to IMovie Theatre using iMovie for IOS and view on Apple TV from iPhone 4 but not iPhone 5S. The settings are OK both logged into icloud, and settings set so can upload to iCloud. A cloud with an up arrow appears on the iPhone 5s, when I select it says I am not logged into iCloud or connected to the internet even when I am?

iPhone 5s, iOS 9.1, iMovie Theatre

    Hi emubondgirl,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

I understand that you are not able to share a movie to iMovie Theater from your iPhone 5s, but you can from your iPhone 4. I know that you have checked the settings on both devices and they appear the same; is iCloud drive enabled on your iPhone 5s?

iPhone 4s and later, iPad, or iPod touch

    1. Update your device to iOS 8.
    2. Update to iMovie version 2.1 or later on your iOS device.
Find updates for your apps by opening the App Store and tapping Updates in the bottom right.
    3. Upgrade to iCloud Drive.

Use iMovie Theater with iOS 8 or OS X Yosemite - Apple Support

    Best!

Hello iCloud Drive is not enabled on the iPhone 5s. I had already checked that.

Any other ideas. Could it be that the iPhone 5s is not properly registered to my account?

    Hello emubondgirl,

Thanks for replying and letting us know that iCloud Drive is not enabled on your iPhone 5s. On the iPhone 4s or later, which your iPhone 5s would fall under, you need to have iCloud Drive enabled to use iMovie Theater from the device.

Use iMovie Theater with iOS 8 or OS X Yosemite - Apple Support

Try enabling iCloud Drive and then using iMovie Theater.

    All the best,

Thanks for the quick reply. Before I try this will this mean that I won't be able to view movies exported to iMovie theatre on my Apple TV which were produced by my iphone4 (IOS 7). It seems to say that anything below iOS 8 can't view. Also my Apple TV is version 7.2.

Hi. Shouldn't I be able to use iCloud on my  iPhone 5s even though I have not updated to icloud drive?

Also having read the apple support link you provided it says that Apple TV will only view content on iCloud drive, but I can see content from iCloud.

Its not clear what the implications are if you don't update to icloud drive which is attractive if you wish to upload content from both iPhone 4 and iPhone 5s.

iMovie will not upload to iMovie Theatre on iCloud if running IOS9 even though iCloud Drive has not been enabled. However oddly I was still able to use iCloud to replicate contacts and other things between iPhone 5s and iPhone 4. The only solution was to upgrade iCloud to iCloud Drive on iPhone 5s running IOS 9. This will mean I will no longer be able to sync my two iPhones but at least I can watch the Movie on my Apple TV now.
