Apple TV remote will not turn on Panasonic Viera tv
Apple remote will turn off tv and works volumn control but will not turn on tv. The Panasonic remote is required to turn on tv.

I had this exact problem with a 2012 Viera. It resolved itself when I disconnected and reconnected the HDMI cable with both the Apple TV and television turned on. It has worked as expected since (turning the TV on and off, and switching source from my Sky box when I press Menu on the remote.
