Q: How to access Time Capsule from outside my home network

I'm trying to find out if there is a way to access my Time Capsule with my macbook pro from outside my home network, e.g. from work and other places.

Is it possible? How?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)

The simplest method for most users is to set up Apple's Back to My Mac (BTMM) feature.  The following support articles will provide some information on this function.  BTMM assumes that you are connecting from a coffee place, bookstore, hotel, etc with a basic simple Internet connection.

BTMM may not work correctly if you have a modem/router or gateway type of device that provides your Internet connection. Chances of success are much better if your home network has a simple modem (only one Ethernet port on the device) rather than a modem/router or gateway device with multiple Ethernet ports.

Most business networks have extra firewalls and security in place that may not allow BTMM to function correctly, so you may need to check with the network administrator if you are having difficulty connecting from a business network.
