I have to update my OS X(10.6.8) because IOS 9 is not working with my current iTunes. What is the most appropriate OS X for my MacBook Pro 3.1?

I have a Macbook Pro 3.1 (A1229, Santa Rosa) with with 4GB RAM. > http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook_pro/specs/macbook-pro-core-2-duo-2 .4-17-santa-rosa-specs.html

I use my Mac mainly for word processing, surfing, photo editing and skype. To store, synchronize and backup my data I have a QNAP TS-212-E.

On everymac.com the say that all the newer OS X should work but I'm not sure which one is the most appropriate for my Macbook Pro.

Any experiences with the constellation of my MacBook Pro with the OS Xs after 10.6.8. are appreciated.

Thanky you!

welll...I'd say Mavericks but that isn't available. If you go to the App store, you get one choice: El Capitan. I don't know how else to officially get Mavericks

or anything older. The only other news I have for you is that your MacBook Pro can handle up to 6 gigs of Ram with a 2nd stick of 2 gig ram with the 4 gigs you have in there now, if you have 1 stick of 4 gig ram. Most of your old stuff should work okay, but it may need to be updated

Your Macbook meets the requirements for El Capitan. If you can afford to, I'd say go for that extra stick of ram, but if not, not
