Q: Migrate contents of one computer to another computer?

I have a Powerbook G4 12" and I needed to have the disc replaced. I would like to migrate the data from my other Powerbook G4 15" to the Powerbook G4 12" with the new disc. Can someone please tell me:

• How do I connect the computers to each other (what cord to what)?

• Should they be on or off during the connection (or one on and one off, which on and which off)?

• Can I then just follow the instructions with the Migration Assistant on the Powerbook G4 15" (or do I need to do something with the Powerbook G4 12" the computer to receive the contents)?

I remember 100 years ago this migration process was explained in detail on the Apple site. I guess my computer is now too old...and I can't find anything (a lot of pages no longer there).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi Klaus1,

Thank you so much. Your links helped me to transfer my info to my new drive.

But, now I have another problem. The gentleman that replaced my disk loaded OS 10.5.6 onto my computer. Before it broke the old disk had OS 10.4.11 and OS 9.2.

When I migrated my info back onto the new drive OS 10.5.6 remained. I need to get OS 10.4.11 and OS 9.2 onto the new disk so that I can use some old apps. that require OS 9.2.

I don't know how to get my old OS systems onto the new disk. I guess this is some sort of retrograde. I have "Software and Install" disks 1 and 2 which are OS version 10.3.3. (I think/thought these were the original disks but I'm not sure. If they are shouldn't they be OS 9? )

    • Can I install the original "Software and Install" disks 1 and 2 which are OS version 10.3.3?

    • Does OS 10.3.3 include OS 9?

    • Can I then migrate the data from my Backup disk again and will it then install OS 10.4.11 and OS 9.2?
Basically my problem is how do I retrograde from OS 10.5.6 down to OS 10.4.11 and OS 9.2 so that I can use some old apps. and play some old games that I enjoy?
Again, please help. I'm totally lost.
