Q: AirDrop Not Working on El Capitan

After I installed OS X El Capitan, AirDrop stopped working between my MacBook Pro and my iPhone 5C updated to iOS 9.1. I have spent a lot of time reading the other posts and trying the different solutions and nothing is working for me. This includes:

  1. Restarting
  2. Checking all my setting
  3. Turning Bluetooth off
  4. Deleting the preferences file /Library/Preferences/com.apple.Bluetooth.plist
  5. Turning Bluetooth back on
  6. Resetting network: Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

Now, I have to re-enter all the passwords to my wifi connections an AirDrop still doesn't work. I am seriously bummed!

I've started a new post because I don't want this to get lost in the long list of "I have the same problem" because it's believed that the issue is resolved. This may be the case for a few, but not the majority. This has to be a bug. Please fix this!

did you try resetting from the router itself?

I had a frustrating week of the airdrop not working but only got the solution today; reset the router itself, (even though the iPhone and the mac had been on the same network) thankfully for me, it worked.

    Good luck!

I tried everything suggested in various threads. Nothing helped. Then I rebooted my router and everything was fine. I'm sure for a techno-twerp like me this is some kind of anomaly but it has solved the problem.
