How to extend a partition with free space from new hd

Hi folks,

I have a macbook pro 2012 with OS X 10.10.5

I have a mac os partition and bootcamp partition

I cloned the hard drive to a drive with more space (500gb to 1tb) so now i have free space of about 500gb.

My objective is to resize both partitions using the new free space.

Disk utility options are grayed out

I purchased camptunex but will only let me change space between the two partitions but doesn't show the free space

I created a FAT partition thinking camptunex might then see it as a third partition and let me use the space but no joy

So what are my options? Any software packages that will help me resize the partitions with the free space?

thanks

MacBook Pro (15-inch Mid 2012), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

When you shrink a partition it shrinks from the bottom. This unfortunately means that even if you could shrink the current Boot Camp partition it would still be in the way of expanding the MacOS partition. It is not possible to move a partition.

What you need to do is delete the Boot Camp partition which of course will delete all its contents as well. Once it is deleted you can expand the MacOS partition and then recreate the Boot Camp one.

I would expect you would want to have a backup of the Boot Camp partition first. Have a look at this free tool. https://www.paragon-software.com/home/bootcamp-backup/ You should also consider http://twocanoes.com/products/mac/winclone
