I had the same issue. If you are in the UK and have BT broadband it will not activate. There are a couple of workarounds though, so either set up on a non BT connection (friends house?) or use a personal hotspot via an iPhone to activate. Turn off wifi on your iPhone, start personal hotpot and use iPhone activation in the atv4 menu. Once activated you can then set the atv to your wifi or connect ethernet. Hope this helps.

    Hi

    Remote will need charge if its been in box for 2 months

    Charge  fo at least 1 hour then try again later charge

    For longer.

    I Have no problem with my remote. ATV fails to activate when i sett it up for the first time
