Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you can't send text messages from Messages on your Mac, make sure that text message forwarding is still set up. You can follow the steps in Messages (El Capitan): Get and send SMS messages.
You may also need to double check that your phone number is linked to your Apple ID. See the advice in Link your iPhone number and Apple ID to use iMessage and FaceTime.

I would reset the Text Forwarding setting on the iPhone.
Turn it Off then On again to get the Code Number to reappear on the Mac version.
