Q: Ipad won't restore

Dear All,

I have an ipad, that I tried to restore by holding the lock and sleep button.

Once I plug it on itunes, Itunes tells me to restore the ipad and update it, which I tried. The ipad automatically disconnect at the step "waiting for ipad". I don't understand why.

I can't go in settings and do reset since my ipad is potentially on "dead" mode right now. I've already downloaded the most recent version of Itunes and IOS on my computer, however but the problem persists.

Anyone has the same problem ?

    Hi lpaauline,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

From your post, it sounds like your iPad is not responsive and you are trying to restore it using Recovery mode, but the iPad keeps getting disconnected from iTunes. To troubleshoot this situation, there are two different articles I would suggest reading over.

The first article below explains the troubleshooting steps, for which it seems you are already familiar with, when you have an unresponsive iOS device. The steps for using Recovery mode are in the If your device turns on but gets stuck during start up section.

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or won't turn on - Apple Support

If these are the steps you are completing and the iPad is still getting disconnected from iTunes during the restore, please read over and work through the suggestions in the next article.

If you continue to have the same issue, please let us know more about the issue. Did anything happen to the iPad to cause you to try restoring it using Recovery mode? What do you mean when you say the iPad is in dead mode? Does it respond at all when not connected to the computer?

    Best!
