The "Reminders" application, located in the Applications Folder now performs those functions.

Correct, that is no longer possible. You may want to provide Calendar Feedback.

My god this is so seriously stupid I am speechless.

When we upgrade we want then new features ON TOP OF our old favourites. Ditching intuitive design for the "latest" is Sony thinking.

There isn't even a shortcut to reminders!!!! And no I do not want a separate program for that. Now looking at BusyCal.
