MST Technology?
Just wondering if the Apple iPhone 6s has the MST Technology?

Unfortunately Apple can't or doesn't use MST. MST is patented by Samsung and Apple can't use it. So Apple is at disadvantage when compared to Samsung since limited shops accept Apple Pay where as virtually anywhere Samsung Pay is accepted.
That's truly an amazing "fact". I have never been in a shop that accepted Samsung pay but not Apple pay. But I've been in many that only accept Apple pay and not Samsung pay.
You may not have noticed, but the post you responded to was almost 2 years old.

I was about to say the same thing.
Now do these locations that don't accept Samsung Pay have signage that specifically says no Samsung Pay, or do they lack signage that says that they accept it? Unlike Apple Pay or Android Wallet the merchant doesn't need a special POS terminal or credit card reader to accept Samsung Pay. MST makes the credit card reader accept payment by magnetically mimicking the swipe of the card. The user activates the program and the MST device in the phone emits an electromagnetic signal that makes the card reader think a card is swiped when the phone is placed next to it. This allows the user to pay wirelessly at their "corner store" or "mom and pop" restaurants that haven't purchased or can't afford to upgrade their POS to accept NFC payments. Samsung pay will also transmit via NFC like Apple Pay and Google Wallet. Chances are that the locations that don't accept Samsung Pay either don't know that they can or don't because they don't understand or trust the technology.

Which is functionally the same as the store not accepting Samsung Pay.
Maybe you'd like to define that term...
Magnetic Secure Transmission....used for things like payments through Square and EMS+. Plugs into the earphone jack and lets you swipe credit cards.
No. MST is an old technology that basically 'clones' the chip on your credit card (or at least, that's how it behaves). At present, the only phones that use it are Samsung.
Well can I plug the reader device into a iphone 6S and take credit card payments?
So long as it's compatible with the iPhone and the current version of iOS, sure. That would be a function of the reader, not the phone.
There are certainly Square payment dongles that work with iOS devices. My local coffee shop uses one on an iPad and many of the vendors at the annual craft fair in my neighborhood use them with iPhones.
Thank you
Thank you
I have a Square dongle that takes both mag stripe and chip-enabled cards. Works with my iphone 6 and iPad Air 2, and the Square Register app for iOS. Check their website.

"Even though it's transmitting via a magnet, Samsung Pay seems to be set up to maintain security. It uses tokenization, which means that your actual credit card isn't sent, instead it uses a temporary one that Visa or Mastercard creates for you. It's also storing that information in a "trusted execution environment," which keeps it isolated from any app that might want to access it. Apple Pay also keeps that information in a secure element, but Samsung was quick to point out that Android Pay doesn't (though it is also tokenized, so the risk is lessened)." - It does not "clone" or "mimic" your card # in any way, it is just a temporary # that can be used once and needs to be authorized over network.
"iPhone is compatible with LoopPay" - Pretty sure that uses MST, apple pay does not support it (yet).
Less speculation and more research 😉
