Q: OS X App Store does not Show/Cannot Reinstall an App that I Own

In the "Purchased" tab of the OS X App Store, there are listed many apps that I have purchased, both from Apple (e.g., "iMovie," "GarageBand," and "Keynote") and from other software vendors (e.g., "Better Rename 9," "Lingon," and "MacTracker").

I'm missing one.  An expensive one.  Specifically, "Remote Desktop" ($79.99 from Apple on the OS X App Store).  I've paid for, owned, and upgraded this software since v1.2 (2003).  To be absolutely clear, I paid for the v2 upgrade (2005) and the v3 upgrade (2006), and still have my disks from v3.  "Remote Desktop" v3.7.2 software is installed on my older PowerBook.  The current version of the "Remote Desktop" software is v3.8.

How do I get this app to show up in my list of purchases, so that I can (1) update it to v3.8 on my existing PowerBook; and (2) install it on a new computer when the time comes?

Note:  No App Store purchases are hidden in my AppleID/account.

    Look in the "restrictions" settings.

Thanks for your reply, but I don't have/can't find a "restrictions" settings in the OS X App Store.  Where are these?  Please clarify what you're referring to.  Thanks.

Make sure that you use the Apple ID that bought the app.

In Appstore go into your account in the Featured window, choose Hidden Items. It may be there.

    1. I think you mean to say, "go to your account in the PURCHASED window…" not the Featured window.
    2. Regarding "Hidden Items," been there, done that.  My original post contains the following text: "Note: No App Store purchases are hidden in my Apple ID/account."
    3. The software was not purchased in the OS X App Store, but instead was purchased from Apple or another retailer before Apple even had the OS X App Store.  I paid for the v3 upgrade in 2006.  I currently have v3.7.2 installed.  I'd like to update it from v3.7.2 to v3.8 via the OS X App Store.  How do I have Apple recognize that I already own the v3 software, and merely want to UPDATE it (NOT UPGRADE it)?

He was telling you to use the Account link in Quick Links on the right side of the Featured pane to get to your account details to see if there were hidden items.

Apple does not include old disc based software in the Purchased list in the Mac App Store. Never has.

    How to update

    • If you purchased Apple Remote Desktop from the Mac App Store, this update appears in the Updates pane of the App Store.

    • If you installed Apple Remote Desktop from a physical disc, update your Mac to OS X v10.10.2, then check the Updates pane of the App Store window. After updating OS X Yosemite, the Mac App Store allows you to upgrade to newer versions of some Apple apps including Apple Remote Desktop.

    • After updating, Remote Desktop appears in your list of Mac App Store purchases. You can install it on other computers you own by logging into the Mac App Store using your Apple ID. You no longer need to enter a software serial number to install your copy of Remote Desktop.

I thought there was no room for error on what to do.

    As Dahveed explained.
