what is "boot driver", and how do i "make sure i have chosen the Boot Driver during installation" of a new program?

i have scoured the internet, but it seems that everyone else already knows all this and is seeking more complicated info!

so a simple explanation for a low-tekki such as myself would be much appreciated! 🙂

I do not know what you mean.

Bootdriver is what makes a drive bootable.

Example: you want to format a disk, either internally or external, then you format/erase it, so that it can be used afterwards. But there is a difference when formatting when you want to install OSX on that drive: then you must not only format it but make it bootable, so that you can start from it.

Thus you may get a message when you make a bootable stick (with DiskmakerX for example) for installing OSX on your computer, or when you make a clone to a disk that should be bootable afterwards (with CarbonCopyCloner for example).

You do not have to do anything special for that.
