I have had the existing older Apple TV. Airplay sounded fine. Plug new Apple TV into same TV / speaker combo set up... and try Airplay [both from computer and iphone, and the audio is horrendous] Sounds like its streaming 56 kbps or something awful. However from Netflix on new Apple TV - the audio is perfectly fine. Why is that. Nothing has changed in setup, only content. Why is Airplay content audio treated differently and sounds completely different than Netflix content? Software error?
Hope it is fixed soon.
Might have to plug old one in for stop gap - which is sort of ridiculous with new product.
*** aside - why no HBO Go offering in new App Store - when application is already offered on old Apple TV.
