Nov 9, 2015 12:41 PM in response to paulshomeby judysings,Hi paulshome,
Can you provide a little more information about your issue? Are you saying you backed up your music from your iPhone to your computer? Are you missing music in your iTunes library or on your device? Do you have a Time Machine backup of your Mac? I'll provide some general information for now and will look forward to your reply if this information does not help.

Nov 10, 2015 7:03 AM in response to paulshomeby Brett L,Hi Paul,
Thanks for clarifying your issue. The short answer to your question is that the iTunes Library on your computer contains the music that you ripped from CDs. Your iPhone and iPad syncs to that library, but an iCloud or iTunes backup does not include music imported to your computer's iTunes Library from CDs or MP3s.
If you have a Time Machine backup of your old computer, you can restore the entire iTunes Library to your new computer. If you enabled Apple Music or iTunes Match, you can access the music you ripped from the CDs.
Otherwise, you will need to reimport your CDs and MP3s into the new iTunes Library on your new computer.
Because I'm not sure what scenario above applies to you, I'll include resources for all of them.
Use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201250About backups in iCloud and iTunes
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204136
iCloud backups include nearly all data and settings stored on your device. iCloud backups don't include:
- Data that's already stored in the cloud, like contacts, calendars, notes, My Photo Stream, and iCloud Photo Library
- Data stored in other cloud services, like Gmail and Exchange mail
- Apple Pay information and settings
- Touch ID settings
- Content you didn't get directly from iTunes, App, or iBooks Stores, like imported MP3s, videos, or CDs
- iTunes in the Cloud and App Store content (If it's still available in the iTunes, App, or iBooks Store, you can tap to re-download your already purchased content.)
iCloud Music Library: Understanding differences between Apple Music and iTunes Match
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204962Apple Music and iTunes Match are two independent services that both conveniently provide access to your music library from all of your devices using iCloud. Apple Music and iTunes Match are not backup services for your original music library. Be sure to back up your music library so that you have a copy of your music and other information if your Mac or PC is ever replaced, lost, or damaged.
Check your Apple Music library settings
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204926With your Apple Music membership, you can access your music library on your devices. When you sign in to Apple Music on any of your devices, you can see your library in My Music.
Your music library includes:
- songs, albums, and playlists that you added from the Apple Music catalog;
- music that you bought from iTunes; and
- music from other sources in iTunes on your Mac or PC, including CDs that you ripped and music that you created yourself.
Sign in to Apple Music and turn on iCloud Music Library
To add music to your library, you must have an active Apple Music membership and turn on iCloud Music Library.
On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch:
- In the Apple Music app, tap the profile icon and sign in with the same Apple ID and password that you use for your Apple Music membership.
- Go to Settings > Music, and turn on iCloud Music Library.
- If you already have music on your device, you'll be asked if you want to Merge or Replace the music. Choose Merge to add the songs currently on your device to your library.* If you select Replace, the music on your device is replaced with your Apple Music library.
Paul, I hope this information clarifies your options moving forward.
