About legacy games, applications and SteelSeries Stratus Gamepad on Apple TV 4 ?

QUESTIONS:

1. Why the latest Apple TV is not fully compatible with all the games and applications from its AppStore ?

2. I cannot find even a single Street Fighter alike games on Apple TV, and is very disappointed that good legacy games from AppStore are not available in this device for download, any reason why Apple TV is designed to be this way ?

3. Is Apple TV 4 supports SteelSeries Stratus Wireless Gamepad ?

Please advise.

Hi Protoadd, thanks for the feedbacks.

First thing in my mind when Apple TV announced it supports AppStore games, I was thinking immediately all iPod games are made available.

Legacy games such as SFIV, SFIV Volt, MVC2, KOF-I2012, Galaga30th, Raiden Legacy, RayStorm, After Burner, Contra, Samurai Showdown are great, and really caused me to pull out my wallet if all this games are available on this little Apple TV 4 device which held on TV screen PLUS SteelSeries Stratus Gamepad supported.

Even better, if Apple TV 4 supports application such as RedShift - Astronomy Software.

I believed everyone sure wanted Apple TV 4 to be this way though 🙂

But don't forget that with the new ATV4 they also released and brand new software tvOS. While it is based upon the same iOS software ecosystem, it is new. They also released developers tools that help speed up the development time for apps thus encourageing developers to add theirs to the options available to us the consumer. But Apple does not own the rights to those software applications so it will be dependent on each developer if they think the new tvOS app is the right place to spend their development dollars. They may have a new game and don't want to support the old game any longer. Lots of businesses making decisions that cross paths...

Look at PlayStation can you play PS1 games on a PS4? How bout Xbox or Nintendo? That's just not how software development works. Your right, it's great for the consumer but from a business perspective it's not fiscally responsible. Build it bigger, better and more expensive. How many movies have I bought multiple times I.e. vHS, DVD, Bluray, Digital. Or music Cassette, cd, digital (maybe even 8track too)....
