Wolverine F2D Super slide scanner

Has anybody had any good or not-so-good with this attractive standalone scanner?

Anything better for the price out there?

Be aware that the Powerbook will need a scanner that has PowerPC drivers. They are getting scarcer these days*:

In 2006 Apple shifted the entire Macintosh platform to brains by Intel, requiring a rewrite of all the drivers, and now that makes it really hard to find current devices that will work with older Macs. They do exist, but you need to look for the older drivers. Many multifunction printer/scanners also include a section just for scanning slides on an 8.5" strip. The Canon MX-700 does, and yes it has older PowerPC drivers available for Mac OS X 10.5.8. You may find other Pixma model scanners have the same thing. Firewire scanners are faster, if you can find one, than the USB 2 scanners.
