i do not have Mac install disk with me . But , as suggested by Apple chat support , went for PRAM, reboot and internet OSX recovery but Macintosh HD is not on the list in Disk Utility .
It shows only two options - disk 0 and mac base version.
Also. went to Apple Service centre , they are telling that the Hard Disk has crashed or the cable is faulty.
Kindly suggest , what to do next.
Further, I was running OS El capitan on the mac
Apple appears to be correct. If you're not comfortable with or don't have the parts needed to replace that component, take the computer in for servicing; on that Mac model, it's intended to be simple.

but, what about the data on the mac.
If the problem is with the cable(or something on the motherboard), it'll be accessible once the component is replaced.
If the problem is with the drive itself, it can only be recovered by a service such as DriveSavers; these can charge hundreds or thousands of dollars.
